How can I change the variables' names?

Post by Krish »

Hi,

I have a systen dynamics model which has lot of variables. Some variables have been used as part of the equations for other variables. I have shadow variables also. Now, my problem is: "How can I change the name of a variable so that its name is updated in all places wherever it is used?" Is there any way to do this in any version of Vensim. Please let me know. I thank you all very much for all your suggestions and help.

changing variable names

you can do this two ways.
Cliking on the com button and cliking on the variable name on the sketch and changing the name of the variable.
it will automatically change the name of the variable everywhere.
If you have no com button, you can change the name of the variable with the equations button. When in the equation editor, you can change the name of the variable in the first line of the equation editor. The result will be the same.
Regards.

Just a refinement on JJ's comment - you can use either of the variblae tools (Level or Auxiliary/Constant) to rename variables - just click on them.

The names in custom graphs are not automatically updated - these need to be redone as another step.
