Modeling Innovation Diffusion

Hi,

Im looking for (SD-)sources that can help me model the diffusion
of innovation (the uptake of new products and services). Ive
found some articles on Bass Curves, but I know theres more out
there. Can anyone point me to a good place to start (preferably
on the web) ?

Thanks,

Rutger asks about innovation diffusion models. A good place to start
is chapter 9 in Business Dynamics, which covers both innovation
diffusion (Bass model and its extensions) and the SIR class of
epidemiological models, with references to the literature.

All,

I hesitate to respond to queries like this, as theres no appearance
of appropriate effort. While I support collegial interchange, I
dont support being an expensive substitute for individuals looking
at the obvious sources--the half-dozen or more SD textbooks and the
SD Review. Although this may not apply to Rutger, it almost appears
many people have started to ignore anything that doesnt come instantly
over the web. (And for that matter, does the SD Road Map, which DOES
come over the Web, have exercises on this?)

There are at least three articles in the SD Review that go way beyond
"Bass curves". Has Rutger located those? What other articles has
Rutger found, and which were useful and relevant? Im looking for at
least a token quid for my pro quo to continue building a community of
SD-interested. I would very much like to make it a social norm for
inquiries to have the form: "Im interested in X. Ive found A, B,
and C. Their strengths and weaknesses are D, C, and E. Who knows
of more material?

collegially yours,

alan

Thanks to all who responded to my Query about Innovation Diffusion.

Actually, I did manage to locate some suitable resources before I
made my inquiry. Among other things, Stermans book (ch. 9), an
article by Milling in the SD Review, and a number of articles on
Bass Curves (not necessarily from an SD point of view). They proved
to be very helpful, but my instinct told me there should be lots
more out there. And indeed, I got mailed a few very useful (links to)
resources.

Is there a comprehensive web page that keeps track of, say, the SD
Top-10 most useful (or best rated) links per subject? Sort of like
the Yellow Pages for SD...

Hi Rutger

The best link I know is simply the SD society web site
http://www.systemdynamics.org
There is plenty of information, but it needs time
to explore.
I found information in the short bibiliography chapter
where there are 7076 references.
You can download it, and open it with Word for instance
and search for any reference word.
Hope it helps a bit.
Best regards.
