A public s/w for SD EGO

Post by Bill Harris »

Gene,

Here is the message I got from the developer of EGO when it first came out.

Just as a note, Ive found it reasonably easy to use, and I like the fact
that it manages causal loop diagrams, unlike iThink (but like PowerSim?).
The primary difference Ive found is the lack of emphasis on exogenous
variables; i.e., there are no "clouds" as in iThink. You can read his
documentation and see his reasoning. The one or two models Ive created in
EGO werent a problem (*), but it took me a while to convert my thinking
from the iThink paradigm.

Bill

(*) Well, there was _one_ problem. His documentation doesnt show how to
access a function. He since told me the secret. For example, if you wish
to create a step of amplitude 3 after time 12, you invoke the function as
"3 step: 12". Logarithms are done as "argument log: base".
