I was looking for some references on improving and sharpening the concepts of
variables we define in our models. I highly appreciate your helping me with any
comments, papers and other references.

To those of you who reply to Hazhir, include a differentiation between
variable and parameter.

I teach systems thinking regularly for business audiences.

I tell them "a variable is something you can graph vs. time; draw the
graphs related to your issue... Thats your starting set of
variables." This eliminates many of the confusing possibilities in
variables (verb instead of noun, unclear which way is up, etc.)

Further, I have them put one variable to a Post-it note. Then, they
arrange the Post-its to explore the relationships, change in ___
causes change in ___.
