Modelling ERP/MRP and Common Inventory Policies

Post by Yaman Barlas »

You may find this useful -albeit indirectly and partially related to
your question:
We have done some work on testing the standard inventory control rules
(such as (s, Q), (s,S), (S, R), (s, S, R)) in a dynamic feedback
context. We modeled and replicated them in stock-flow jargon.
Results are summarized in:
""Testing the decision rules used in stock management models (with M.G.
Özevin), Proceedings of the 19th International System Dynamics
Conference, Atlanta, 2001, pp. 32-33. (Full paper on the CD version and
also available at:
http://www.ie.boun.edu.tr/~barlas/resume.html).

A newer and updated version is about to appear (around November) as:
""Analysis of stock management gaming experiments and alternative
ordering formulations (with Özevin, M.G.) Systems Research & Behavioral
Science (to appear).

Finally, we also analyzed the sources of 'bullwhip' effect in the
standard inventory rules as well as anchor and adjust heuristic and
investigated how/to what extent 'information sharing strategies' can be
implemented to reduce the bullwhip in each case. This article is under
review for SD Review:

""Information Sharing Strategies to Reduce Fluctuations and Bullwhip
Effect in Supply Chains""
(with Baris Gunduz). SD review (under review).

If you need more/immediate information, you may contact our web page, me
or better, the authors of the theses (Gunhan Ozevin
<gozevin@ford.com.tr> and Baris Gunduz <bgunduz@ford.com.tr>).
