Sketches with errors

Hello. I am currently using Vensim 5.3 PLE and I am getting fairly frequent "sketch has errors" messages. On my current sketch nothing is displayed once I click on the "load anyway" button: it appears nothing was salvageable. Have I really lost all that work? Is there no model fix utility? Why do I get these errors with some frequency? Thanks.

Hi Brendan,

Can you email the model to me (tony@ventanasystems.co.uk) and I will take a look?

I had the same thing one time, but than going from text editor to the normal display. I only lost a view, but all the variables still existed. Using mirror images, I was able to recreate the view.

In this case there were some 'funny' characters in the model file, once these were removed all was fine.

It could have been that the saving of the model resulted in a corrupt file, not sure yet.

Version 5.3 had problems with embedded quotes - you shuld update to 5.4.

As to fixing the files - .mdl files are plain text files so it is usually just a matter of opening them in an editor and looking for abnormalities.
