XLS references

In PLE Plus it is possible to use aliasses for XLS files. Menu Model/Settings/XLS.
If the xls file is in the same directory as the model. no path is required.
But: if you use a path other than the modeldirectory, the model only looks in the modeldirectory and returns an error, not able to find the file in the model directory.

The workaround is obvious, the implications are annoying, always having to type thr full path name or alsways moving the xls file to the modeldirectory.

the answer is yes it is possible to use aliases. You can use relative paths in setting the alias - the path is relative to the directory the emodel is in.

Maybe I wasn't clear: if I have an alias for a file Y:\User\test.xls and the model is in Y:\Models, the program reports an error: 'the file Y:\Models\test.xls does not exist - can't read info'.

This is a known problem and should be fixed in the next maintenance release of Vensim.
