Creating a Software SIG?

Dear friends,
fellow SDS members,

without a doubt it's a wild world out there - but, luckily, we are ""in
here"", in the Society. In this environment we have the opportunity to
work with others, to collaborate: to solve both particular and common
problems.

Particular problems (e.g. for company XYZ) may be solved by any
individual or group. Common problems, though, are the business of
everyone. Two examples: (a) environmental problems; (b) producing an
interchange protocol for SD software communication.

What happens if common problems are solved non-coordinated and
non-collaboratively? We may see lobbies being created; we may see apathy
or antagonism; where consensus is sought, pluralism requires special
handling for not leading to the opposite direction.

It seems to me that for the common issues/ problems we need not only
form coherent groups - which matches perfectly with the policy of SDS
Chapters and SIGs - but to effectively participate in them.

On behalf of the Environmental Dynamics SIG, I would like to invite the
active collaboration of all SDS members who are working (or are simply
interested) in these common problems. And as we do not have a ""Software
SIG"" yet, we could be thinking of creating one to address the
communicability of SD software (a single common problem).

I refrain by requesting the support of the SDS president and VP Chapters
and SIGs in fomenting the spirit of collaboration in the SDS, for the
common good.

Best regards to all,
and wishes for a Happy Easter
Tasso
