ANNOUNCE Multicriteria Optimization Software

Post by Duggan James james.duggan nuigal »

Posted by ""Duggan, James"" <james.duggan@nuigalway.ie> Hi all,

As part of an ongoing research project investigating the integration of decision analysis techniques with System Dynamics, I've developed a genetic algorithm-based multiple objective optimisation solver and systems dynamics simulator. This allows modellers to explore trade-offs in optimisation problems (e.g. cost versus time), and to consider the full range of optimal solutions across the Pareto-optimal front. Models are XML-based and the solver uses Euler's equation: a number of inbuilt functions are also available.

If anyone is interested in trying out the software, please drop me an email and I will send on a copy.

It runs on the Microsoft .NET platform. It is intended solely for educational and research purposes, and only runs in command line mode (i.e. there is no user interface). On the positive side, there is a full model of the Beer Game included as a demonstration, a short user guide, and all output integrates easily with Excel.

Finally, I would be delighted to get any feedback (positive and negative!) and comments on the system.

Best regards,

Jim.
