QUERY Open Access Publishing

Citation: Eysenbach G (2006) Citation Advantage of Open Access Articles.
PLoS Biol 4(5): e157 doi:10.1371/journal.pbio.0040157

Those of us who are interested moving toward Open Access publishing (OA) for the
SD Society might be interested in the above article which states:

""This comparison of the impact of OA and non-OA articles from the same journal
in the first 4-16 mo after publication shows that OA articles are cited earlier
and are, on average, cited more often than non-OA articles.""

The article also shows:

""an advantage of publishing an article as OA on the journal site over
self-archiving (i.e., making the article otherwise online accessible).""

The article is freely available from PLoS Biology at:

http://biology.plosjournals.org/perlser ... io.0040157

But the article could have been made better through the addition of some
feedback loops!
