Strange Error

Post by sgrillo »

I have been working with VENSIM DSS for several years and he has always been a product very stable. However in the last week it starts presenting the error "unable to parse the data file" as a particular model was open. It seems it lost the references to the varaibles of the reference mode of this model because it starts displaying the graphics of rm in the wrong variables. I have erased all the data files (vdf) and start using the backup version of the model, but the problem continues. Any ideas?

This would be a corruption in the reference mode data that is actually stored with the model. Under Model Settings select the Ref Mode tab and delete all the entries (you can try Exporting first if you want to try to salvage what is there). Then the model should open OK.

Thanks Bob. The model is ok now. Is there any specific procedure that may have caused this problem?

In Vensim versions prior to 5.7a there were some issues with reference mode data corruption. I don't know of any in the current release.
