Congratulations to the team on this.

Jack Homer, Drew Jones, and Gary Hirsch are three long-time SD people
involved in this. Note particularly that the entire team decided to
donate the full prize to support further work rather than keeping it.

Friday night in Washington DC, our CDC System Dynamics team accepted
the ""ASysT Prize"" for a suite of ST/health projects, including the
diabetes and cardiovascular work. As they say, ""The ASysT Prize is
an annual award for a significant accomplishment achieved through
the application of systems thinking to a problem of US national
significance in the area of national security, homeland security,
energy, environment, health care or education."" $20k goes to CDC to
do more in this area.
More is at: http://www.asysti.org/Prize/2008asystprizewinner.aspx
The ceremony coincided with the 50th anniversary of ANSER, the group
who sponsored it. Twas a 700 person gala with dancing and big pomp
and revelry. Fun!
See the photo. That's Bobby Milstein (CDC), Joyce Essien
(CDC/Emory), Doc Klein (SI contractor), Gary Hirsch, Patty Mabry
(NIH) and me. Jack Homer, Kris Wile, and Diane Orenstein couldn't
make it.
