Best example of the need for spatially-explicit SD

Hi everybody,
The question lies in the title. I will have to do a presentation soon explaining why Spatial System Dynamics is useful (in comparison with "standard" SD) and I'm looking for examples which could illustrate well the limitations of SD when dealing with spatial problems. Since the audience will be made of ecologists who are used to workaround the spatial limitations of SD (with more or less success), some striking examples would be useful to make them think about the value of this approach. Any suggestions would be welcome
Best regards,
Chris.
