Have a look at http://www.strategydynamics.com/. They have a "microworld"
that may interest you. It reads
The Professional
Services
Microworld
lets users
experience the
special strategic
challenges of a
professional
services
organisation.

I have not used it, nor do I have any connection with the company

Im trying to build a model of the consulting services business (this
particular business is Information Technology consulting). The model will
include the dynamics of marketing, recruiting, engagements, engagements
ending, re-marketing--as well as the financial dynamics of compensation
plans, consultanting rates, development expenses, overhead expenses.

Has anyone done work in this area or have a suggestion for literature to
review?

Ms. Tullar,
Refer to the "i" Think software package reference materials by High
Performance Inc. They have a consultanting model already done that you
may use as a reference.

Sincerely,
Alex Leus

Hi Sue, Vensim has a sample model of a consulting services business. If you
go to their site and download their software, the model comes with it. Also
try:
http://www.simresource.com/_scripts/Mod ... Dpassed=23

The ithink "Business Applications" manual also has an interesting model on
the impact of Rookie productivity vs. Pro Productivity on revenues.

There are many models on those issues as many colleagues have suggested to
you. A group of my students recently developed a variation on them as a
class project. Please contact
