Concerning the discrete - continuous model selection discussion I
suggest the book Computer Simulation inManagement Science (3rd
edition) by Michael Pidd from Wiley press. He addresses simulation
issues, distinctions between the two appraches, and gives two
detailed examples. Of particular interest to our community is that his
example of a continuous modeling approach is system dynamics.
