Age group control

I need an idea on how to model the following situation on Vensim:

I have students graduating from a five year course and entering the workforce, which is a variable containing 10 age groups (25-30, 30-35 and so on). How can I control the flow from one age group to another? When is this transition going to happen and how can I model it?

Thanks.

This is normally done as an aging chain. Business dynamics has a good description of this and you will also find this in the Molecules which can be download from the free download page at vensim.com - you can also search this forum since this issue has been discussed before.

One simple example is here

Normally a continuous aging process is most appropriate, but if you need to minimize dispersion through the age cohorts you can use the SHIFT IF TRUE function - see the documentation for a simple example of that.
