I am running Vensim 5.10 on Mac osX 10.6.4

If I select the control panel from the menu, or by its button, it does NOT appear but it IS a window ( I can see it by moving my mouse to the bottom right corner of the screen to show all windows and it is there as a plain white empty window.)

Where did it go....?:(

You should update to 5.10a and see if the problem persists. I have not seen the behavior you describe. If it persists try going to your home directory and deleting .vensim (or .venple) - note that you will need to use terminal to do that as the files seem to be hidden from Finder.
