Hi

There is another policy that can be applied. Instead of considering gap goals, one can consider ratio goals.
It is difficult to decide which policy is best.
Some technologies converge quicker, some slower.
It probably depends on the initial conditions and the desired share.
I join the second policy model that tries to converge towards ratio of 1.
Regards.

Hi JJ,

Where you not able to post the file to the forum at systemdynamics.org? I tried to set that up to take models, but perhaps I did not succeed.

BTW .mdl files can't be read with the Vensim Model Reader, this required .vmf or .vpm.

Hi Bob

Thank you for the notification.
I have published in format that can be read by the Vensim reader. They are zipped in the joined file.
I will try to post the zipped file in the SD forum too.
Regards.

Another model that smoothes the additions to avoid too big fluctuations but that generates unforunately som slight fluctuations of the gap of the stock share

Hi Bob

I have tried to upload files with the .vpm format at the SD forum but it said that it does not accept .vmp extension.
So I could only upload a file with .zip extension.
Regards.

A new file that leaves the total bulbs stable and smoothes automatically the results by lowering the time step.

Here's an alternative version that implements the matrix method from the thread on the SD forum.

Yet another version that's closer to standard SD practice (including a stock adjustment term).

Hi Tom

You posted only one model!

Oops - somehow I failed to attach the matrix version. Here it is.

Incidentally, I agree that the SD forum won't take .vpm files.

Tom

[Evidently the file size is the issue - I removed an embedded vdf and now it should fit. Apparently the upload limit is between 214k and 373k.]
