Retrieving the equation editor from off-screen

Post by gwr »

Sometimes the simple tasks are difficult:

I was using an external monitor showing a model recently and had moved my Vensim model to the second screen. When I later had disconnected the external monitor and restarted Vensim, the equation editor window would not show. Unfortunately all other window options in the main menu cannot be selected as the equation editor on the unavailable external screen is awaiting input.

Is there some trick on how to move the window back to the main screen again?
(The usual windows tricks like ALT+spacebar and then the menu shortcut for move combined with the use of the arrow keys will unfortunately not work since the external window is obviously not controlled by windows ...)

Kind regards,

Guido

This problem crops up regularly. See the following post

http://www.ventanasystems.co.uk/forum/v ... tor#p15368

To summarise,
1. Close Vensim.
2. Start notepad, edit the file called vensim.ini (click File->Open, type %APPDATA%\vensim\vensim.ini into the file open box).
3. Search the file for "EqedDim1" and "EqedDim2" in the INI file. Delete these two lines and save the file.
4. Start Vensim and the equation editor should appear again.

Thank you, for providing a workable solution - for now I had to reinstall a second display ...

If there is a software feature that will make such procedure a bit more user friendly please add it to the wishlist of (minor) improvements to VENSIM...

Kind regards,

Guido
