GET XLS Function

Post by maxin454 »

I use GET XLS function in my vensim model to import data from an external excel spreadsheet. When running the model, the excel spreadsheet also opens up automatically. I'm wondering if there is a way to "NOT" auto run the excel spreadsheet when running the vensim model? Thank you.

Have a look at GET DIRECT DATA, that might do what you need.

GET XLS DATA needs the spreadsheet open as it reads via a live link.

Thanks, Tony. But somehow I cannot locate GET DIRECT DATA function in the manual. Could you direct me to the right spot?

Ah, yes it is a recent addition.

If you cannot upgrade, you will have to read the data in via another format if you do not want Excel to open.
