Hi,
I worked with a model that is stored in binary format (vmf).
During a save the program crashed, and now I can't open the model:
"Failed to read the model mymodel.vmf."
In the error log I see:
ERROR: Corrupted block reading file.
Is there a way to get it back? Or at least some parts of that.
Last backup is one day old and a lot of stuff was changed since than.
Thanks,
corrupted vmf

Re: corrupted vmf
Not really. You could try sending it to me (vensim@vensim.com) and I'll see what I can recover from it.
Have you set up the Vensim backup path at all? If yes, try looking in there for a backup.
Tony.

Re: corrupted vmf
Backup I do not have, but now just realized that I have the history, and (maybe) the original file.
So based on this:
-------
Recreating Versions of Files
In addition to providing a readable audit of what you have changed in a file, you can use history files to automatically recreate different versions of a file. To do this, you must first archive an initial version of the file, then begin a new history file. After you make changes to the file, go into the history file and delete everything after the version you want to recreate. Rename this portion of this history file as a backup, then edit the initial version of the file. The backup facility will be invoked automatically.
-------
I should be able to restore my changes.
Just started to check if it works...

Re: corrupted vmf
OK, based on the file I could restore my changes manually.
The automatic backup did not work since there were some strange line shifting issues in the file.
