"Optimal" desktop configuration for running Vensim DSS.

Any guidance or ideas about configuring a desktop PC for optimal performance ?
I am no technical expert here; my naive view is that there might be
some 'optimal' balance between RAM & processor capabilities
that would be best for running Vensim DSS at a given price point,
say $1200 - $1500 for the box , back-up internal hard drive and I/O devices
sans monitor and software.

Vensim will still run on quite modest hardware.

Saying that, the advice would be to go for what is generally recommended, fastest processor you can afford, as much memory as possible and fastest hard drive. The processor will speed up actual model runs, the memory will have a double impact, first Vensim will be able to access all the physical memory it needs (instead of swapping out to disk) and the operating system will be able to cache the writing of the results file. A solid state hard drive will speed up the results writing as well.

And if you make a lot of use of SyntheSim, a good graphics card will help.

My laptop is an Intel Core i5 (2.6GHz), 16gb of RAM and a 500gb solid state hard drive. The hard drive is a recent upgrade and made a big difference to how fast the machine runs.
