Beginner question on equations

Post by beatrixb »

Hi all,

I am having some trouble in regards to writing some of the equations in the different box variables. Every so often, after I've made a few minor changes, after simulating, my variable will not show the changing output it had before, and will instead show a straight horizontal line at the initial value I had given for that equation.

I'm not sure what it is that is doing that. I changed another variable and thought that the issue was having the variable name itself in the equation, however I also tried that for other variables and it did not make a different.

I attached the model for reference. The variable I am currently talking about not being able to alter is "Supply Capacity".

Thank you in advance!!

I'd start by simplifying things.

There is no way of easily figuring out what the equation for "Supply Capacity" is actually doing. Split it all out into separate parameters and do the calculations there ("some variable"=SQRT(2*3.14159*((Supply Capacity/SQRT(Number of Manufacturers))))) and then you can see what is happening.

I'd also put some units into your model. What exactly is "Supply capacity"? It's initial value is set to "Change in supply capacity", that does not make logical sense to me. But then I don't know what supply capacity is measured in, so cannot really be sure.
