Possible performance issue with Windows Update

Earlier this week, we identified an issue with a recent Windows Update that degrades performance substantially - not debilitating, but enough to make the GUI feel sluggish. We haven't yet identified the specific culprit, but be aware that this could happen.

(After a few experiences with bad updates, I only update manually, to avoid nasty surprises.)

Hi Tom,

does this concern a regular Windows update (eg. for WIndows 7 in my case) or is it related to Windows 10?

Best regards,

Guido

We found it on Windows 8.1. It went away after I rolled back updates to about June 15. The problem is, the update process queues changes that don't take effect until a reboot, which makes it very tough to determine which KB item is the culprit.

No one has seen the problem on Win7, and no one has tried Win10. :)

Ventity seems to work fine with Windows 10, although I haven't used it much since I upgraded windows. (Using a 4 year old laptop computer)

Win10 does seem to be an improvement all around. I haven't had any issues. The Win8 update issue seems to be resolved as well.
