Friday Deadline---International Conference on Complex System

Post by Yaneer Bar-Yam »

DEADLINE: ICCS ABSTRACT SUBMISSION THIS FRIDAY FEB 18th
send by e-mail to
iccs@necsi.org

The program committee meeting, which will assign
additional speakers to sessions, will be held this
Friday, February 18.

---
Attached is the preliminary program for the third
International Conference on Complex Systems (ICCS 2000)
which will take place May 21-26, 2000 in Nashua, NH,
near Boston, MA.

This ICCS, like the previous ones, is an unusual opportunity
to form collaborations and discuss advances in complex systems
research. It is also a remarkable opportunity for pedagogy.
Proceedings will be published in print and on-line.

There is still an opportunity to submit abstracts.
Please submit them soon so we can organize them for the
program committee meeting.

Registering to attend the conference without giving a presentation
is also still possible.

Students and postdocs are encouraged to submit papers about
recent advances in their research. Opportunities will be provided
for them to give short talks or to be assigned to the poster session.

We have funds to assist students and postdocs, junior faculty and
others who do not have sufficient financial resources to attend the
conference.

I have recently been notified that the National Science Foundation
is intending to co-sponsor the International Conference
on Complex Systems through the following directorates:

Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences
Directorate for Engineering
Directorate for Biological Sciences
Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering
Directorate for Geosciences

with participation from the following divisions:

Division of Atmospheric Sciences (GEO/ATM)
Division of Bioengineering & Environmental Systems (ENG/BES)
Division of Chemistry (MPS/CHE)
Division of Computer-Communications Research (CISE/CCR)
Division of Design, Manufacture, & Industrial Innovation (ENG/DMII)
Division of Integrative Biology and Neuroscience (DBS/IBN)
Division of Materials Research (MPS/DMR)
Division of Mathematical Sciences (MPS/DMS)
Division of Physics (MPS/PHY)
Office of Multidisciplinary Activities (OMA/PHY)

Several NSF program officers will be attending to present information
on current and future funding opportunities. Among others these include
Mariann (Sam) Jelinek -- Social, Behavioral & Economic Science

Additional information about NECSI and the ICCS conferences may be
found at http://necsi.org

please send inquiries to iccs@necsi.org
