Missing control panel in MAC OS

Hi, I'm a newer user and have been using PLE+ for a couple of years in my classes. I just changed to Mac with new OS and the control panel does not display. It might be there somewhere because the main window changes color slightly and the menus change.

Anyone else have this problem? (I saw an old problem in the forum with a similar issue but it did not help me).

thanks in advance. David Hyatt

Chances are it's appearing off screen (I'm assuming you use multiple monitors).

Shutdown Vensim. Browse to your home folder, in there will be a hidden file called .vensim (or .venple). Edit this and change the line that begins "Control Dlg" so it's like
;Control Dlg=0-x=66,y=212,w=616,h=457
Restart Vensim and hopefully the control panel will appear.

Sorry, I looked for those files (showing hidden files) and could not locate those files yesterday (mentioned in the 2010 post).

I do have an external monitor but did not have a problem before with it attached. Now I just have the laptop and restarted, etc.

The hidden file has to be on your machine otherwise Vensim cannot save it's settings. I cannot remember how to show hidden files on the Mac, but I'm sure it was easy.

Ok. Yea I found it and fixed it. (Show Mac hidden files with "Command-Shift-period")

I was being too literal. The file is ".venplep" I guess for the PLE+ version that I have.

The control like is near the bottom. Thanks very much for the help. David
