Find a shadow variable

Post by JavierFontalvo »

I'm a new Vensim user. I have a quite simple question, but have been unable so far to find an answer in the manual or searching the web.

I'm working on a quite large model previously developed by other researchers, with about 30 different views. Some of the modules have a shadow variable, and I would like to check it on its original view for a better context; however, given the large number of views and the model's complexity I find it impractical to search the shadow variable by hand through each view. How can I find the specific view a shadow variable comes from?

Thanks in advance,

Javier

Press F3 to bring up the search box. It will go to the first occurrence of a variable. Pressing F3 again will find it again.

You can also use the control panel, click the views tab. Here you can select the variable, and all the views it appears in will be displayed.

In v10+, select the variable on the diagram, making it the workbench var.

Hit F4, or menu Edit>Find Workbench. This will find the next instance of that variable.

If that's not the source node, hit F3, or menu Edit>Find Again.
