Post by kleemax »

Is there a way to watermark a vensim model? I mean if I e.g. export as svg.

I think you can specify page header/footer info if you print to PDF?

The idea is that I can send a model sketch to someone as pdf but they cannot use it without it revealing where it came from. Sometimes you may wanna control to some degree how participants in a larger project context use outputs, because you are planning on publishing some of it in a peer -reviewed journal or because the Org financing the project may want to control what goes public and what remains confidential within the project.
In other softwares water marks are usually implemented as some sort of logo that is written all across the output, but e.g. in light grey. Think of e.g. all the websites where you can buy pictures: before you buy them when watching them on the screen they carry a water-mark. As a result you cannot simply use them without buying them. Since Vensim already supports changing the color of the canvas, maybe the simplest solution to implement this would be to allow for using a picture as a background for the sketch? Then users could create a watermark-canvas in some other software and use it as a background for the sketch. It would be good if that could be set for each View of a model separately (as I blieve it is currently implemented for the canvas color).
