Hello Everyone,

The results of the vote are 75 yes for more posting and 8 no (20%
response rate roughly). Some of the yeas were reluctant, and I will
continute to moderate out flames, junk messages and accidental postings
of personal messages. However, if you have something interesting to say
to someone who asks a question, say it to the whole list. Please
continue to sign your messages with your name and email address and
please do not include more than 3 lines of material from a previous message.

On a administrative note there are many email addresses that go bad and
begin returning messages to me that the mail does not get through. Most
of these are expired accounts (I think) and I remove them from the list.
If you stop getting messages from the mailing list after your email
account has had problems of some sort you may need to resubscribe.

Finally, for those of you waiting on the 96 System Dynamics Conference
registration to arrive in the mail - we ran into several snafus and that
should be going into post boxes today and tomorrow - so dont panic yet.

Hope to hear from you

Hi Everyone,

First, I have been seeing quite a few messages recently that seem to be intended
as direct replies to the senders of messages. I dont post these messages, which
saves embarassment, but I dont forward them either - they are simply lost.

You should reply to the list when you want to communicate significant content that
is likely to be of general interest. If you are simply asking for a copy of a
paper or model from someone - ask them directly. Similarly, if you are responding
to a query with a pointer of someone to contact - respond directly. If you want to
take the time to do a synopsis of the work that has been done, whether it is your
work or someone elses, that is of general interest and should go to the whole list.

Finally, we get a lot of queries about whether or not someone has done modeling of
some problem. I think these queries are useful because they can connect people with
similar interests. However, there are two things that should precede such a post

1. Please check the system dynamics bibliography - available at
http://www.vensim.com/sdmail/sdbib.html

2. Please check the archives of this mailing list. Jaideep Mukherjee has made
this easy to do see http://www.optimlator.com/

When you do post please include information about what problem you are going after
and why.
