Re: Loop counter: Is there a known bug?
Thanks for this. I'm not sure if that explains the issue I've reported, though. The 32-rule does not explain why the number of reported loops would go down from 640 to 10 by adding one link. Also, the loop I gave as an example, for instance, which is not reported in v2 has a length of only 7. Many m...

Re: Loop counter: Is there a known bug?
One example that is reported in v1 but not in v2 (while it exists in both): Loop Number 8 of length 7 Real House Prices real average deposit average deposit to income ratio relative average deposit to income ratio number of new mortgage advances per year real new mortgage advances growth in real new...

Re: Loop counter: Is there a known bug?
Thanks for your reply.
I did compare the loops and it looks like the version 2 model is no longer reporting the vast majority of loops. Any idea why this might be the case?
Thanks for your help.

Loop counter: Is there a known bug?
Hello, I was wondering whether there are any known bugs related to the Loops counter feature in Vensim (I'm using Vensim Professional for Windows Version 6.3D (x32)). The reason I ask has to do with the two models attached. The two models are identical, except for one link. In version 2, I have adde...

Re: Sensitivity confidence bounds growing over time
@Tom Fiddaman: I was just wondering if you have 5 minutes to kindly look at this question and share any thoughts you might have on it, or else any good sources you might know of which talk about interpreting results of sensitivity tests with respect to feedback structure, and whether growing bounds ...

Re: Sensitivity confidence bounds growing over time
Thanks. It makes sense. Yes, in my work it also seems that the bounds widen where reinforcing loops are dominant and then shrink again when balancing loops become dominant. I wonder whether this is generally the case, or whether there is a paper on interpreting Monte Carlo sensitivity results within...

Sensitivity confidence bounds growing over time
Question for Tom/Colleagues: (Apologies as this is technically not a Vensim question but rather on the theoretical side and also admittedly a quite broad question.) In visualising results of sensitivity tests, the range of the confidence bounds usually grows over time. This is also seen in the coupl...

Thanks Tom. Sorry for the obvious question but in which environment would I run this command? Would it be Terminal on a Mac or the Command Prompt in Windows?

Re: Sensitivity Graph Y-Axis Range
Thanks. I managed to get a decent sensitivity graph with custom axis ranges via editing a .vgd file in text.

Re: Sensitivity Graph Y-Axis Range
Sorry, if I can just follow up on that, I think I might need to export results to Excel to be able to customize my chart.
Is there a way to export or obtain only the few confidence bound curves, rather than all the hundreds of runs?
Thanks again.

Sensitivity Graph Y-Axis Range
Hi,
Quick question: Is there a way of manually setting the upper limit of a sensitivity graph? I'm aware that you can right-click and drag on the graph to choose an arbitrary range, but this visual method is never precise.
Many thanks,
Kaveh.

Obtaining statistics for specific time period
Hello, I have a model which runs from 1980 to 2060 (40 years into the past and 40 years into the future). I would like to use the Statistics tool to obtain summary statistics but only for the future period (2020-2060). Is there a way of doing that? I tried the Statistics tool menu but there doesn't ...

Re: Function for reading from a vdf file
I was just facing the exact same problem actually. Decided to delete that particular variable for my Base model, which leaves me with two model versions (not ideal). What you're suggesting is more elegant. I'm going to try and see if I can implement it now.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Function for reading from a vdf file
Dear Tom/Colleagues, I was wondering whether there is a Vensim function for a variable to read values from inside a vdf file (e.g. a previous simulation). The problem I need to solve is that in my model, I need to compare the values of a variable in various simulations against the values of the same...

Thick Lines feature for Graphs not working properly
Hi, I have a strange problem with the 'Thick Lines' feature for graphs shown on screen in Vensim. When I select this in Options, my datasets turn to thick lines, EXCEPT the very first dataset in the list of datasets, which remains a thin line. As the problem is a bit weird, I suspect it might be a b...

Cheers,
Kaveh.

Temporal weighting in optimization/calibration
Hi, I was wondering if there might be a way, by any chance, to give a higher weight to more recent years when using Vensim's automatic calibration, i.e. instructing Vensim to give a higher weight to discrepancies between simulation and historic data during a certain portion of the simulation period,...
