Hi
It might be better to use the strict unit testing. If you use the strict unit testing two more errors will appear in both models. But I do not think that these errors have anything to do with your problem.

Re: Reverse engineering
HI The COIN model discussed years ago in the SDS forum when it was still active, is for me a good example of an impressive model, that has no chance of ever being useful to anything or anybody except its author. Exposing the reasons would take me a time that I am no more ready to spend, because my e...

Re: optimization
Hi Help yourself and heaven will help you. I took a look at your model. Several remarks. First there are no units in you model: a sign of a complete beginner in Vensim. Set the stricte unit testing on in the units equivalent window. Correct units is mandatory. Secondly! You should simplifiy your mod...

Re: optimization
Hi Are you a researcher or are you working wth optimal control problems applied to real problems with planned implementation? In the second case, i use mainly dynamic programming methods (ref Bertsekas from MIT) and Vensim is very well adapted. If you are working on real cases to be implemented, we ...

Re: get vdf data and get vdf constant does not work if the file is empty
Hi Tom Every time that a file is missing, one has to erase the folrmula with the get vdf and replace with :NA: or anything else, run the model to get the run and then get the get vdf formula back with the name of the run generated. This is cumbersome. What is the purpose of the actual design? it wou...

get vdf data and get vdf constant does not work if the file is empty
Hi
joined a model using get vdf data that generates an error if one uses an empty file. same is one uses the get vdf constants function.
Regards.

i think that the .ini file becomes big with the sim subscript put to 100000 and it first says that it cannot open it and then still opens it but it takes more time;

Re: low speed loading a model
I thinkthat it has to do with the subscript sim that is very large 100000. When i put it to 1000, it loads quickly again.
But the need to use the options stays.

Whatever the situation it loads in about 15 seconds.
i join another model that is much more complex and downloads excel data that loads instantaneoulsly in 0.1 second.

Hi Jeff
Thank you for your explanation. Working alone, I do not have to manage different people simultaneously modifying a source code that has some advantages and some drawbacks too.
Anyhow good luck for your project
Regards.

Re: Display code overhaul to support multiple people working together and version control for .mdl files
Hi The display code is not viewable in the flowchart view, but if I right clkck on a variable of the view, you can view the entire display code of the variable and can change it, something that I often do; i never change anything in the text model below the warnings Sketch information etc.. What is ...

Re: Display code overhaul to support multiple people working together and version control for .mdl files
Hi Jeff The display code appears in the flowchart view if you click on a variable; you can modfy it ; it appears too in the model as text at the end of the list. It cannot be modified. Do you agree? What do you name a sheet? Is it what Vensim names a view? Or is it what appears when you clck on a va...

Re: Display code overhaul to support multiple people working together and version control for .mdl files
Hi
I do not understand what you mean by display code inside a model. Is it a Venapp code or a script code? Can you give a simplistic model example illustrating a model with display code inside?
Regards.

Re: Vector Elm Map: 2 dim array to 2 dim array
Hi i never use the vector elm map function. It is dangerous with the risk of getting values outside the range of the array, and because of its complex formuoation if used with muliple subscripts that generates errors. if i want to get the value of say the element of a one dimension vector vector[sub...

Re: help modelling
Hi
It is possible too, to use the vector lookup to build a two dimensional lookup see the function example. it was maybe not possible to do that years ago and the solution at this time was more complex. It must be too possible to build a three dimensional lookup using the vector lookup.

Hi When two variables have both an effect on another variables and these effects are independant from one another, the total effect is equal to the multiplication of both effects. But if the effects are not independant from one another then you must build a two dimension lookup. There was in the pas...

Hi Thank you for your answer. I downloaded from your source and dwonloaded visual studio 2022, finding no 2019 version. Of course there are no files from the directories specified in the mdl;bat and of course it does not compile. When installing it did not ask me anything about c++ and no ticking wa...
