Re: System Dynamics in rehousing policies

If you do a search on this forum for "housing" quite a few links crop up. Are any of those useful to you?

Re: Model reader will not open *.vpm

No the client would not need DSS. They do need the Vensim model reader. You need to publish from Vensim, select package type "Other", and then select the Excel spreadsheet as the "Caller". This will generate a VPA file. Give this to your client, they start Vensim Model Reader and...

Re: Vensim and Digest

This is just a guess as I've never seen Digest before today. I'd assume that there is a function in your model that Digest doesn't know about. And the error message doesn't really give any clue what this could be.

Re: Simultaneous mathematical identities?

Why would they both be 10?

If supply = demand, then supply/demand = 1, and when Vensim loops, it gets to supply = 1 and demand = 1.

Re: simultaneous equations involving?

You can just add up the rates, is that what you want to do?

Total incoming surface flow = incoming transferred flow + returned surface flow + natural incoming flow.

Just make sure the units check correctly when adding the rates.

Re: Unit conversion from disease case to physician consultat

I also think that units are a helpful tool for checking model equations, and as demonstrated here they force you to think if you're mixing up the right things (and if anything is missing). I wish others would realise their importance. In my opinion, they are absolutely vital. I will not even look a...

Re: simultaneous equations involving?

See the following for where you have gone wrong. http://www.vensim.com/documentation/index.html?simultaneousequations.htm You could try using the SIMULTANEOUS function if you really believe that there are no delays in the loop causing you the problem. http://www.vensim.com/documentation/index.html?s...

Re: Bar Graph in Venapps

Something like

TOOL,"SP1",0,60,100,40,,,WORKBENCH>BAR

As long as "BAR" is in the analysis toolset you have loaded, it should display the chart.

More info at
http://www.vensim.com/documentation/ind ... ?24930.htm

Are you having trouble displaying a bar chart?

Re: How to remove delay?

You can add the transportation rate * time step to the level to give you the number you need. But I would urge you not to. The model is correct as it is.

If you are using C#, the easiest thing to do is just use an API delete function.

Re: Random Lookup in Sensitivity analisys

First you need to define your distribution as a lookup table in the model. Then you have two options. 1. Sample from a uniform distribution, and pass that to the lookup in your model. 2. Sample using RANDOM LOOKUP. I've set up a lookup in my model called "SENS LOOKUP F". The dialog below s...

Re: Custom graphs

The simple answer is to have initial time = 1 rather than zero if you want a year of data on each graph. It might be possible to do the summary graph (I'm on a Mac at the moment so cannot test it). Create a new variable in your model called "year summary". year summary = if then else ( mod...

Re: Custom graphs

Yes. Display the graph property page, select "Advanced 1" and click the "Settings" button. Now click "Paging" and you can set the number of points per page.

You will need to create a couple of buttons to move between the pages once the graph is displayed.

Re: Slider - save value during simulation

Sable works in the same way as Vensim, you set constants and then run. But once the simulation is finished, the sliders will reset. You can save the values, run the simulation and then reload all on a single button. Try the following commands on a button. SIMULATE>WRITECIN|temp.cin MENU>RUN|o SIMULA...

Re: Equation editor hangs programme

Vensim should not have actually been "non-responding". As the equation editor is off screen and you have no way of moving it on screen, it appears hung. But hitting the escape key should dismiss the editor and bring you back to Vensim itself. It will be fixed in the next release of Vensim ...
