Systems modeling, puzzles and Taxonomy

Post by "Beck, Peter [AMSTA-AR-FSF-X]" < »

Systems modeling & puzzles

In the world of mechanical puzzles (these are whole systems) there is a
taxonomy of modalities (for background see "Puzzle Categories" @
http://johnrausch.com/PuzzleWorld/cat/category.htm ).

My question to the list is do system/SD models have this type of diversity
or do they all fall into one class, e.g., Sequential movement - puzzle
pieces are connected in some way and rearrangement of the pieces requires
moving groups of pieces in some sequence.

Puzzles of course often take advantage of some uniqueness which once known
may make the puzzle simple. Can this be modeled?
