Job openings at Powersim Consulting

Post by "Christopher Barker" »

Powersim Consulting is looking for a consultant to join its fast-moving, flexible UK team. The right person will have very strong conceptual capabilities, demonstrated in a business-modelling application and preferably with an understanding of the SD approach.

Team members are expected to contribute at all stages of the commercial and problem-solving process: in practice and business development, marketing of existing and new services, managing their own and, where appropriate, others work and communicating findings and commendations clearly and concisely to client management. The company is able to offer the career growth, intellectual challenge and personal development of a large consultancy, combined with the deep focus and expertise of a smaller specialist firm and underpinned by the lifestyle advantages of an out-of-London team.

In contrast to many consulting roles in larger organisations, we are able to offer a unique and highly attractive blend of opportunities to the right
people:

* A real contribution. As a relatively recent and fast-moving addition to the Powersim group, we are able to offer the opportunity to contribute to all areas of growth of our operation alongside our UK office director. Theres little time for carving out formal roles: we need to get our hands
dirty and build the business.

* Real prospects. We work in a non-hierarchical culture with no ceilings on your performance. Your contribution will be fully valued: you wont be held in a role, unable to deliver of your best.

* Leading-edge consulting services. Our work is at the leading edge of business-consulting services, enabling managers in a range of markets to
develop and support sustainable strategies that take account of the interactions between players in a market. We dont follow consulting fads or re-package old approaches as new panaceas.

* Fast-based consulting. We refuse to succumb to unjustified assertions, to shroud a lack of clear understanding in consultese or to use gut feel for more than an initial hypothesis. By grounding our work in facts, we ensure that ourprojections represent as accurately as possible the future performance of our clients businesses, and that our recommendations for action make demonstrable sense.

* Personal growth. Our business is growing - and we must each grow with it. Not only in our role and breadth of experience, but as individuals, too. You should be willing to grow personally in your skills, stature and professional confidence. We offer training, both formal (internal and external courses) and informal, through active sharing of learning and experiences and through our constant quest for improvement. Theres a steep learning curve on offer in business, technical and personal skills.

To succeed, youll need to be a bright, original thinker looking to apply your skills in a simulation-oriented consulting environment. A natural problem-solver with strong analytical and conceptual abilities, you will value intellectual rigour and seek rational, considered solutions to problems.

You will be a strong communicator and a good listener, able to work closely with senior client management and to build strong relationships. You will hold a first or second degree in an analytical discipline and have a strong track record of success to date in business analysis, preferably with some business-development potential in a chosen industry or sector.

A broad-minded individual, youre likely to have demonstrated achievement in areas beyond your career. From your work life, you expect fun, variety and continuous learning.
