This is to let you know that Cognitus has recently made significant changes
to its mission and personnel.
First, Cognitus has decided to loosen our ties with High Performance Systems
Inc, with whom we have been closely associated for many years, and to cease
selling Stella/iThink as a stand alone product. UK customers can still
purchase and download Stella/iThink from HPS website
(http://www.hps-inc.com/), and contact Cognitus for application support.
Cognitus will continue to supply iThink software bundled with training and
support packages for business applications (http://www.cognitus.co.uk/)
Eric Wolstenholme, having retired from his University post last summer, has
left employment with Cognitus and recently joined OLM Consulting
(http://www.olmgroup.com/) on a part time basis. OLM is based in London and
specialises in health and social care. Much of Erics consultancy work over
recent years has been in this field and he feels that the move is an
excellent way to focus his effort and to lead new initiatives. You may have
read of some of Erics successes in the field on the SD list. Erics new

At the same time, Richard Stevenson (who founded Cognitus in 1991) has
decided to re-direct a major part of his own consulting time to helping his
partner Jill to develop a completely new web-based business venture
(http://www.clubvivendi.com/). Richards primary interest has always been
new business development and growth, and SD is being applied as a primary
planning tool in the new venture.
Richard will continue to run Cognitus as an SD training and consulting
company, where its roots have always been. Cognitus has an extensive client
base and a network of SD associates. It also has a wealth of developed SD
intellectual property and a stream of opportunities, so Richard will be
pleased to hear from old and new SD friends interested to work with him as

Although Eric and Richard are going separate ways, we will continue to work
together on an occasional basis, particularly to support development and
learning in the SD field. We are both proud of our successful partnership in
Cognitus, which has lasted for over a decade and encompassed many successful
projects across the business spectrum. We think we have made a significant
contribution to the field of SD and hopefully set many people on the road to
becoming effective SD practitioners. We both intend to remain active
members of the system dynamics community and to see old friends when time
permits.
