SD Models applied to logistics

Post by Joel Rahn »

This seems to be a model about recycling. If so, the classic reference
is Jorgen Randers chapter in Dynamics of Growth in a Finite World.
Another source of inspiration may be an issue of Interfaces published by
The ORMS Society (or INFORMS as it is now) in 2001 I believe. There was
an article about green production including some ideas about the
structure of a logistics system that would take account of recycle and
reuse of materials. Not strictly SD but perhaps useful. Sorry, its not
in any bibliography that I have but a search on the INFORMS website at
www.informs.org may help. Good luck.

SD Models applied to logistics

Post by Joern.Ewaldt@barkawi.com (Joern »

Dear Luis,

there are a couple of people who have worked in that. My database identifies 76
publications refering directly to SD+logistics. Of course we would find more
enhancing the search criteria.
Ill send the file to your personal email account to minimize the traffic within
the SD list.

If anyone else is interested in that list please send me an email.

Personally Im working in a consultancy company with a strong focus on logistics
(esp. spare part logistics). In that company Im responsible for all activities
concerning "siumlation and optimization", incl. System Dynamics. Currently we
use SD in various projects for supply chain management, pool management, reverse
logistics, life cycle management and supply chain control.

With regards,
Joern W. Ewaldt

SD Models applied to logistics

Post by "Jim Hines" »

Weve had a number of posting from folks who are doing SD in their
companies. The latest from John Ewaldt and A. Ilker Soydan in two
companies I had no idea were interested in SD. The sad thing is that
graduating Students are always asking what companies MIGHT provide an
opportunity for them to at least occasionally undertake an SD project.
Sadly teachers always answer with the small list that the teacher in
question happens to be aware of.

It would be nice to have a comprehensive list with contact information.
Question to Jack Pugh: Would the Society webmaster consider putting the
list on the website, if enough companies were interested in being
listed. We have a list of courses, which is doubles as a list of
interested universities and colleges with contact information; how about
a list of interested companies?
