RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH PROJECT PTDC/AMB/66909/2006

The Foundation of the College of Sciences and Technology of the New
University of Lisbon, Portugal, offers a scholarship to carry out research
within the scope of the project PTDC/AMB/66909/2006 ""Dynamic Modeling for
Integrated Sustainability Assessment"" financed by the Portuguese Foundation
for Science and Technology (FCT-MCTES), under the following conditions:

1. Duration and conditions – 6 months, beginning on February 1, 2008.
According to the Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of
Human Resources of the FCT-MCTES
(http://www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/forma ... oprojectos) and the
Research Fellowship Regulation of the Foundation of the College of Sciences
and Technology (FFCT-UNL), the research contract demands exclusivity. The
scholarship may eventually be extended for additional 6 month periods, up to
a maximum of 35 months. The place of work will be the Ecological Economics
and Environmental Management Group of the Department of Environmental
Sciences and Engineering of the College of Sciences and Technology of the
New University of Lisbon (DCEA-FCT-UNL), Portugal.

2. Research activities – The activities to be developed within the scope of
the scholarship include collaboration in: i) developing a dynamic and
participatory modeling methodology to support Integrated Sustainability
Assessment (ISA) of development strategies and policies; ii) testing such
methodology in the development of a dynamic model depicting a list of key
sustainability issues; iii) modeling the interrelationships of the natural,
social and manufactured capital stocks in the economy; iv) modeling
sustainability indicators, criteria, limits and scenarios; v) developing an
interactive tool to support ISA processes.

3. Scientific supervisor – Research activities will be supervised by Prof.
Nuno Videira, from the Ecological Economics and Environmental Management
Group of the DCEA-FCT-UNL, Portugal.

4. Academic background – Candidates should hold a master degree in areas
related with System Dynamics and Sustainability.

5. Selection criteria – Evaluation of candidates will consider the academic
background and research profile of candidates, particularly with respect to
the following elements: i) Experience in system dynamics modeling and
sustainability research; ii) Academic background; iii) Publications; iv)
Diploma grades. Foreign candidates chosen from a final short list may be
invited to a phone interview.

6. Funding: According to the Regulations for Advanced Training and
Qualification of Human Resources of the FCT-MCTES and the Foundation of the
College of Sciences and Technology (FFCT-UNL) it will be paid a tax free
amount of 980 EUROS per month

covered by a personal accident insurance.

7. Applications – The applications must include: i) Curriculum Vitae; ii)
Copy of academic certificates; iii) copy of personal identification
document; iv) 2 letters of recommendation; v) motivation letter (1 page).

8. Candidates are invited to submit applications from December 14, 2007
until December 31, 2007. Applications should be submitted to: Prof. Doutor
