add a delay between inflow and outflow

Post by tao_w »

I have a general question. Is there anyone who can help me add a delay between the stock and the outflow?

I have the simple model attached. It is basically a simplied version of buying things. My thought about the model is that it may take substantially longer for interested buyers to make up their mind to make the decision to buy things. That means, there might be a delay between the stock "Prospective buyers" and outflow "Buying". But I have no idea about how to build a function there. Is there anyone who can help me build a day between a stock and an outflow?

Thank you for any idea that you may come up for my question.

You've actually already got a delay in there (fraction of buyer is measured in percent per week to buy).

You might take a look at
http://models.metasd.com/delay-sandbox/

It might also be better if you give a brief description of what you are trying to model. Looking at what you have, I'd start with a look at the market model mentioned in
http://www.vensim.com/documentation/ind ... models.htm

This might give you some ideas.

A stock IS a delay in itself. One simple way to think about this would be to disaggregate your stock of people into several stocks - people looking around, people thinking about buying, people serious about buying ...
