Problem to run Vensim PLE after installation

Hello,
I've installed Vensim PLE 6.3E on my Windows7 machine and I'm trying to run it, but when I click on the run icon then just simply nothing happens and Vensim does not start. Maybe someone have had similar problem? What should I do to fix that?

Try reinstalling and make sure you install with admin permissions.

I've just tried downloading and installing version 6.3E of PLE plus and it failed with a message saying it "is corrupted - please reinstall" but on return to the website the button takes you to the 6.3D version.

Are you sure Norman? I've just tried your licence info to download and install Vensim. I got 6.3E and it ran without issue.

I have tried to get Vensim PLE installed without success.

I run the downloaded application directly and as administrator and everything seems fine until the installer ask if I want to launch Vensim and if I would like to have a desktop shortcut. I tried all options here but after I made the selection and click continue the installer seems to go in an endless loop.

I waited once throughout a night and stopped the process the next morning through pressing ctrl+shift+esc (As in all previous cases). The icon is on the desktop, the program is listed in the installed programs list in the Control panel.

When you double-click the shortcut (or try to start the program in any possible way), the little circle indicating busy, comes up and the program never opens. It doesn't appear in the ctrl+shift+esc list.

I run windows 8.1 on a core i3 intel machine with 4G ram and enough disk space etc.

I downloaded the software last week twice and this week also twice. After each try I uninstall the software and try another combination with a freash downloaded installer.

How do I get the software installed?

Could it be a virus scanner blocking Vensim from running?

I'll try it on an 8.1 machine here.

It works without issue on my Windows 8.1 machine here.

What software are you running that could interfere with Vensim (such as virus/malware scanners)? Or do you have any backup software running in the background?

Indeed, have re-downloaded 6.3E, installed into a separate drive and got same message at end - do you want a copy?

Am I missing something? I have repeated (version 6.3E) and got the same message. Where does it ask for "Administrator"?

Problem solved. have re-downloaded 6.3E and reinstalled into a new folder and it opened.
The earlier re-run today may have failed due to a shortcut remaining from yesterday's corrupted file.
The question is how did it get corrupted?

It will not ask for an administrator. The following page explains how to run the installer with the correct permissions.

I am using Avast antivirus (ver 10.4.2233). I dont use backup software - using file history to backup my data.

I am a bit lost, will be glad if you can help.

My Windows user status has full permissions equiv to administrator. Windows' 'UAC message' was never shown. I am still none the wiser as to why my first two attempts at installing 6.3E resulted in a corrupted file message. Any light shed gratefully received.
