Upon redownloading Vensim version 10.3.1 on Windows 11 Home, the toolbar icons have all had their colour inverted. Additionally, all the menus, particularly the equation menu has lost nearly all functionality, not providing equations nor having a functional lookup function tab to input coordinates. This issue happened when I tried repeat downloads, or even trying to install the MacOS version on an older Mac laptop.
Additionally, downloading and installing the 8.1 version of Vensim, I am unable to open up the equation menus of existing files, or create any new variables.

Can you turn off dark mode and see if the icons are ok?anthony.kroll wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 9:08 am Upon redownloading Vensim version 10.3.1 on Windows 11 Home, the toolbar icons have all had their colour inverted.
Can you provide more detail please? I don't understand at all what you mean by the equation menu.anthony.kroll wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 9:08 am Additionally, all the menus, particularly the equation menu has lost nearly all functionality, not providing equations nor having a functional lookup function tab to input coordinates. Re: Vensim Version 10.3.1 Toolbar and Menu Issue
1) Dark mode wasn't enabled. When I do enable it, the icons don't change, but the work area does go dark.
2) When I was using Vensim before, there were options to select predefined equation in the equation editor, which I don't have access to now. Additonally, the Lookup Function variable used to provide an option to input coordinates into a table to define the function, but now I can only add points on the graph without any options to remove points.

If the graphical lookup editor is missing, use the "switch" button:
You can delete on the graph with the red - button:
You can show/hide the table of values:

Re #2, when you say "predefined equation", are you referring to the function list? We removed that in favor of predictive typing.
However, the list is still there:

I have the same problem that on my Windows 11 Pro machine the toolbar icons are displayed poorly.
As suspected, the dark mode in Windows (not in Vensim) is responsible for this, as it activates the dark mode in apps.
This is what the toolbar icons look like with dark mode activated in Windows: And this is what the toolbar icons look like with dark mode deactivated in Windows: The dark mode is available in Windows 11 under ‘Personalization > Colors’ (chose either 'light' or #dark'): It would be desirable if the toolbar icons were legible whether Dark Mode is activated or not.

Re: Vensim Version 10.3.1 Toolbar and Menu Issue
Yes, dark mode has only just been made "official" in Windows 11. It should be possible to enable it now in the same way it works on the Mac.
Dark mode sketch is already available (under the view menu). We'll need time to properly test the rest of the interface, but it should be relatively quick given it already works on Mac. All the icons have "dark mode" versions so the majority of the work is already done.
