optimlator survey

Post by "Jaideep Mukherjee" »

Thanks to the 32 (at the time of this writing) visitors who have completed
the survey on
www.optimlator.com . Thanks also for your user comments - one
I specially liked is as follows:

"The biggest problem with System Dynamics in the government and industry is
that so few have heard of it or understand what it is all about. It is
practically impossible to simply begin using SD as a tool...you must first
educate the client. In the past two years, I have given briefings to well
over 500 people re SD...all technical professionals...and fewer than 10 have
heard of SD before my briefing. This is dramatically UNLIKE spreadsheet or
flowchart software, whose functionality and applicability is broadly
understood across the entire professional spectrum. I would love to see a
book that comprised several examples of spreadsheet-based business plans
followed immediately by their SD analogs. The SD based plans would be
"different" and that difference represents the missing insight that is
needed to gain widespread support for using SD as a matter of routine."

ANY TAKERS ON THE ABOVE IDEA OF A BOOK?

I dont know who you are (comments are anonymous but public), but (as
Stephen Hill says at the end of his Hearts of Space music show): Thank you
SD fan, wherever you are:-)

I will keep the survey for about one more week, after which only the results
will be available for about 6 months, hopefully when there will be a repeat
survey. Please take part if you havent - I am sure you will be interested
in the results even if they are not to your liking. Results are available
now, but there is an Honour Code that if you are going to see the results,
please take part in the survey first. Assuming there are 500 people on this
list, my hope and goal is that at least 50 people (10 %) will take part -
they are going to represent your opinion if you dont participate.

Comments are going to be useful in the next survey so keep them coming
(specific suggestions are preferred - what type of questions you would like
to see in the survey). It is like democracy - if you dont take part, you
cant complain about what you get.

Best regards and and many thanks to the visitors and participants,
