Search for references on developed very general system model

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who could help me
with finding written references for a certain systems topic that
is of interest to me. This is a topic on which I have published a
few books (1990), and which is now the subject of a Ph.D.
dissertation I am proposing to do in the Systems Science
Department at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
I have prepared a 7-page write-up of this topic, which I can send
to anyone who is either interested in the subject or who can help
me in my quest for information. Meanwhile, following is just a
single paragraph introducing this topic:
The topic of this dissertation is conceptual modeling of the
overall functional (process) structures of systems in
general (at all levels/scales and of all types/domains).
This dissertation will seek to develop a more integrated,
more scientifically sound and comprehensive approach to this
subject, based on postulation in advance of an already
suggested system functional structure. This effort is
directed at filling what appears to be a major gap in the
systems science discipline. (Note: Process and function are
taken to be equivalent, conceptually, and will be used as
such. Also note that the dissertation will apply only to
systems that have processes, or whose functions can be
stated as a series of discrete steps carried out against a
backdrop of time.)
I have tried to find works on this topic. So far, I am aware of
certain authors in the management and biology fields who
partially address the subject, but without the express intent of
being fully general and complete. I am now attempting to search
various bodies of electronically referenced literature, using
keywords such as: "general (or generic, or non-domain-specific)
system meta-model (or just model)". However, it appears that
people writing about this topic, if there are any, do not title
their research this way, and that libarians do not index this
topic in terms of strings having a large number of these keywords
in close proximity to one another. Can anyone out there suggest
other keyword combinations that might prove fruitful?
If you would like to have the full 7 (approximately) page write-
up forwarded to you, please e-mail me at EXED@MUSICA.MCGILL.CA,
along with your own e-mail address.
