Dear friends,

(1) My email is functional again, so we can continue with the ED SIG
business as usual. Please, remember that the ED SIG discussions
normally pass through the SDsustain list (more info at the ED SIG
website), and that the Editorial Board may hold restricted discussions
through a special mailing list.

(2) Of all these great System Dynamics software that we got to know and
love in the MS Windows environment, is there anything that works on the
LINUX platform? If anyone, vendor or user, has any experience with
this, would you please drop me a line?

While it may not be what you expect, check out SimPack
(http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~fishwick/simpack/simpack.html). It should
work anywhere you have a C compiler.

Hi Tasso,

On item (2), SD software on Linux, the approach that I use is to use
WINE (an implementation of the MS-Windows API) as a platform for
Ventanas Vensim software.

WINE is an open-source project and you can download it from:

http://www.winehq.com/

Once you have WINE installed, you can download the MS-Windows versions
of Vensim software and install it in the WINE environment.

There are a few minor problems such as some difficulties accessing the
online help, but Ive generally been able to work around them with a
minimum of effort.

This lets me use some very nice SD software without contributing to
the internet problems steming from a mono-culture in operating
systems.
