Dear all,
I am interested in the use of system dynamics for modelling social and
health care provision for elderly people. I would be grateful for any
references.
Thanks.

system dynamics and aged care
I have a graduate project undertaken for the Australian Finance Ministry to
analyse cost implications of policies relating to aged care accomodation:
Home & Community Care (aiding the frail aged to continue in their own
homes); Aged Persons Hostels; Nursing Homes & Hospital Acute Care.
Modelling clearly identified that support to keep the aged in their own
homes in the community was the cheapest option (quite apart from its social
desirability) - but is a Local Government function. Hospital and Nursing
Homes, in Australia, are largely funded federally. The modelling was
instrumental in bringing about major policy change in Federal-State
funding.
The basic student model and associated report can be made available.

system dynamics and aged care
Theres a diagrammatic model of psychogeriatric health care in a paper of
mine in the next issue of System Dynamics Review. I hope that helps but
please get in touch if you need any more info. Come to think of it, please
give me a call in any case as Im always keen to meet new SD people in the
UK
(RE development patterns (SD2911)
No, I havent modelled international development agencies but I did do a
diagrammatic model of Angola which includes a range of international
factors, NGOs, aid agencies and others. Its briefly mentioned and
references are given in a paper which will be in the next SDR.)
