Hi Everyone,

Someone rightly pointed out that the old archives had email addresses
that could easily be found by Web robots to put people on yet more lists
to recieve unwanted email. I don't know how much this has happened in
the past, but I have decided to remove the mailbox format archives.

The best source for archived postings is

http://www.ventanasystems.co.uk/forum/

This is a searchable archive organized by thread. It contains all the
discussion back to December of 1994 (yes it has been over 10 years).

An alternative, not searchable but up to date are automatically
generated archives is available at:

http://listserv.albany.edu:8080

To access these you will need to establish a user account.

Both of these archives are much better protected against the automatic
harvesting of email addresses, and much easier to use than the old
archives were.

I hope that is helpful to everyone. The automatically generated archives
are also a good way to check to see if you have missed any postings. For
every message that goes out I do receive several errors. Most of these
are because an email address is no longer valid. But some come because
the message being sent out are determined to be undersireable by the
receiving system (all this talk of models tends to trigger filters). If
three messages in a row are undeliverable I will remove the email
address generating the errors. If you think this has happened to you
send me a note - you may need to inform your ISP/Network Administrator
that you want to receive emails from the list.
