model calibration

I've built a Vensim model to study the cooling of solids exposed to the air. The model plots the solid's temperature as a function of time; h (the film coefficient) is the only unknown parameter. Suppose I have data points for temperature as a function of time. Two questions: How do I plot the data points as individualized markers in the same graph showing the model as a continuous curve. How do I determine mathematically the "best fitting" curve to the data, thus estimating an optimal value for h? Thanks for your help.

To get dots only just right click on the graph tool and select that option. There is, unfortunately, no option for lines and dots though that would be misleading for calibration anyway.

As far as calibrating see Chapter 18 of the User's Guide.

Thank you. I will try.

Fifteen years later, is there still no way to combine lines and dots in a custom graph?

It's on the list for the graphs in the new interface.
