Fisheries and System Dynamics

I am interested in contacting people who use system dynamics techniques
to address fisheries management issues. In particular, I am interested
in finding if there is enough interest to warrant putting together a
session on "systems dynamics in fisheries" at this years meeting of the
American Fishery Society which will be held at the end of August in
Chapel Hill North Carolina.
I would envision this as either a half-day or full day session
depending on interest. I am starting from zero... there is no such
session currently planned. Sometimes such special sessions (usually
called symposia) include training sessions or workshops.
Suggestions for Symposia for the American Fisheries Society meeting must
be submitted by 4 December with completed list of titles and speakers by
15 Jan 99. Abstracts must be submitted by 12 Feb 99.
Mathematical and computer modeling has long been an integral part of
fisheries management. However, it is my impression that system dynamics
tools are not widely used by fisheries professionals, but that there is
significant potential for their use, both in teaching, research and
management.
