Not able to attach additional files while editing a post

After creating a new topic I wanted to edit the post and attach additional files. However, after selecting the new file ( a png image) it has not been attached to the post. I use firefox 60.5.1
(I was not sure where to post bugs of the forum. Please move this post as wanted.)

I had no trouble uploading a PNG file.
Were there any other files that could have been blocked (such as BAT, CMD etc)?

Yes the original upload contained blocked *.dat and *.cmd files.
I just tried to edit another post that originally had no attachements and the edit
with an additional image worked fine.

CMD files will always be blocked as they can be used to execute programs on a PC. If you need to upload a CMD, change the extension to TXT.

Just to clarify. This was not about how to upload a file that is blocked by default but on the upload of a *.png file. I know about the options of renaming and zipping. That does not help if I want to include an image in a post, I guess. Never mind. The issue only seems to occur in a very special case so maybe its not worth the effort to fix it. Its just frustrating if I want to communicate an issue and face several other issues (like complicated file uploads or non-editable posts) while trying to do so. My original issue about setting variable values has been solved. So I'm fine and hope to not need the forum any more.
