Hi,

We're looking to replace our age-old DDE code in Excel by using the Vensim DLL functionality, and at the same time move to the x64 version of Vensim 8.

Right now we are stumbling at the first hurdle. When we run the sample Excel97 code, Vensim throws up two errors. The first is a message box with a single ".", followed by a second message box saying "Reinstall Vensim (error 977)".

A reinstall has not fixed the problem.

The machine we're using for testing used to have Vensim 7.4 x86, and the vendll32.dll file was in the SysWOW64 folder. We moved that out, but the error remains.

We're using Vensim DSS for Windows 8.0.4 x64
Office 2016 x64
Windows 10 1809

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

First, start by downloading 8.0.6 which was uploaded yesterday.

Then install using admin permissions (right click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator".

Unfortunately the same error messages we mention in original post still appear after downloading 8.0.6 and installing as Administrator.
