Flow created as constant rather than auxiliary

A student sent me a model that was filled with flows that were labled as constants. She hadn't really read the directions for the class, but when I was showing her how to restart the model creation in Zoom with her model, the flows that I drew had constant as the default setting rather than auxiliary. I closed it and tried adding a flow to an existing model - same thing. I reinstalled Vensim 8.0.9 x64 - still same problem. I've been teaching with Vensim for years and never seen this. Help! I still have lots of students to work with on their models.

What happens when you put in an equation? Does the type change to auxiliary?

The interface is probably a little confusing on this point. A flow, and auxiliary, and a constant are really the same thing in the language. The defining characteristic is that they use the = assignment operator. If you write = 3, it's a constant, and if you write = 1/x, or = 1/3, or anything else that isn't simply a number, it's an auxiliary. If you change the equation, the type will automatically change - but not until you close/open the editor.
